An internationally accomplished scientist, Professor Simon Cook is an expert in applying data science and technologies to agricultural systems and natural resource management, to help solve problems at global, regional and farm levels.

Simon is the newly appointed, inaugural Premier's Fellow in Agriculture and Food at Curtin University. Previously Simon consulted, providing strategic and analytical advice to global organisations as well as to nations including South America, Central America, South-East Asia and East Africa concerning food and environmental security, rural landscape development and climate change adaptation.

Simon has over 25 years’ experience of research management in agriculture, including many years with CSIRO and within the Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research Centers.  Should the bid be successful, Simon will lead the Food Agility CRC’s research program into Sustainable Food Systems.



Professor Y. Jay Guo is the Director of Global Big Data Technologies Centre and Distinguished Professor at UTS. 

Prof. Guo is an internationally established scientist with over 300 publications in the areas of antennas and sensors, wireless communications and networking, wireless sensor networks and localisation. He is an innovator with strong and sustained industrial impact, and a globally recognised R&D leader, particularly in the fields of wireless and networking, broadband applications, robotics, sensor networks and big data technologies. 

Jay will play critical roles at three different levels in the proposed Food Agility CRC. At the corporate level, he will assist the CRC executive steer the research programs to deliver planned industrial impacts. As Digital Agrifood Technologies Research Program Lead, Jay will work with the other program and project leaders to ensure planned outcomes are achieved on time and on cost. Jay will also supervise research staff and PhD students, and as a leading researcher in the field, contribute to the development of energy efficient and low-cost sensing and communications technologies.
