This project developed a digital decision-support tool to support Australian dairy farmers and veterinarians make more accurate, evidence-based treatment decisions for clinical mastitis. By using rapid pathogen diagnostics and integrating farm-specific data, the tool enables tailored antibiotic use, reducing unnecessary treatments while supporting animal welfare and antimicrobial stewardship. The project involved extensive collaboration with farmers, vets, industry stakeholders, and data providers, and leveraged machine learning and existing industry datasets. Outcomes include improved treatment precision, reduced antimicrobial use, and stronger alignment with sustainability and market access goals.
