Delegates at the Digital Agrifood Summit will be treated to live, in-field technology demonstrations, including of robotic tractors, automated spreaders, drones, sensors and advanced data-driven apps.

The demonstrations are part of the Global Digital Farm tours that are sure to be a popular attraction at the Summit, which is being held at Charles Sturt University’s Wagga Wagga campus on 1-2 June.

Delegates will also be able to engage with expert speaker and panels, visit agtech companies in the exhibition area and hear the latest research from Australian universities.

Key themes include how robotics and artificial intelligence are transforming modern farming, how farmers can cash in on carbon, and the circular food economy.

The Digital Agrifood Summit is a partnership between Food Agility Cooperative Research Centre, Charles Sturt University and the AgriPark.

It is expected to attract more than 300 delegates from around Australia, as well as from India, Europe and Japan, and will also be livestreamed to a global audience.

Food Agility CEO, Richard Norton, said the event is an up-close and practical look at how data and technology are changing farming as we know it.

“Hands-free farming isn’t a distant prospect. The transformation is happening right now and the Digital Agrifood Summit is a window into that world,” Mr Norton said.

Charles Sturt Vice-Chancellor, Professor Renee Leon, said the University was leading the way when it came to education and research in digital agriculture in Australia.

“Wagga Wagga is becoming the epicentre for digital agriculture in Australia and we look forward to welcoming people from acrossthe world to this exciting event, whether that’s in person, or online.”
