Farmers and land managers are under increasing pressure from government agencies, commodity markets, banks, investors, private companies, and local communities to demonstrate their commitment to sustainable land management.
However, accessing the right data to provide clear and credible evidence is often complex, time-consuming, and costly.
This project will simplify how farmers demonstrate sustainable land management by identifying practical, accessible ways to use their environmental data, such as natural capital accounting and risk assessment data.
It will develop a prototype open-data platform tailored for landholders in the high rainfall zone of Southwest Victoria, enabling them to showcase their sustainable land management practices with minimal administrative burden.
This project features as a Case Study in the Climate Works 'Natural Capital Measurement Catalogue'.
