About

Food Agility CRC’s mission is to deliver maximum impact for research and innovation investment in the Australian agrifood industry. We do this by investing in world-leading research that will change the way we produce, supply and consume food. Together with our partners, which spans the Australian agrifood sector and includes several leading universities, we create new data-driven products and services for the agrifood industry, using AI, robotics, blockchain, sensor, advanced data analytics and more. We are funded by our partners and by the Australian Government through its Cooperative Research Centre Program.

Position Description

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for a variety of project-related tasks including reporting, facilitating project reviews, and other project related duties to support the development and execution of projects aligned with established plans and objectives for Food Agility CRC. The PM will collaborate closely with industry partners and researchers within the consortium, providing expertise in project management, fostering collaborations, and cultivating partnerships.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build high-performing, collaborative teams of industry, research, and technology partners – with clear goals and ways of working together.
  • Forge and maintain relationships with key executive stakeholders and their respective teams, ensuring alignment and support for project endeavors.
  • Drive the coordination and active participation in the quarterly showcase process, overseeing scheduling, hosting, feedback management, and the administration of quarterly reporting documentation and milestone payments.
  • Provide adept support during contractual project variations, ensuring smooth transitions and compliance with agreements.
  • Assist project teams in the successful completion of their projects, including activities related to commercialisation, communication, and documentation.
  • Play an integral role in enhancing and optimising processes within the CRC, contributing to our overall efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Actively facilitate and engage in partner engagement activities, such as co-design project workshops, project meetings, and regular check-ins with project teams or CRC partners.
  • Understanding the different industry drivers and needs and using this knowledge to inform research and development actions and decision making to gain best results i.e., help build better project proposals and adoption pathways.
  • Conducting background research and analysis, including the evaluation of library and internet resources and survey data.
  • Collaborate in the development of proposals to support FACRC researchers in structuring robust research projects.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Possession of relevant qualifications (e.g., Prince2, PMBOK, Lean-Startup) or industry experience in business development, project/portfolio management, R&D, innovation/translation, and/or administration.
  • Demonstrated 3-4 years of hands-on experience in project management and administrative roles
  • Proven expertise in managing and delivering services within complex organisational structures or consortia, demonstrating your capacity for strategic thinking and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in utilising project management software (e.g., Monday.com) to streamline project workflows and enhance collaboration.
  • Strong organisational skills, enabling you to juggle multiple tasks seamlessly, maintain attention to detail, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a capacity to build and maintain effective and productive relationship with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, showing initiative with limited guidance.
  • Experience in the agriculture and/or technology sector will be highly regarded.

What's on offer

  • $125,000 - $135,000 (including superannuation)
  • Employment Type: Full-time position, 2 year fixed term
  • Location: Sydney or Wagga Wagga
  • 9-day fortnight
  • Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid WFH (2 days per week in the office)
