Food Agility CRC invests in world-leading research that will change the way we produce, supply and consume food. Together with our partners, we create new data-driven technology for the agrifood industry, using AI, robotics, blockchain, sensor, advanced data analytics and more.

Our mission is to make Australia’s agrifood system more profitable, sustainable and globally competitive. Our partnership network spans the Australian agrifood and agtech industries and includes eight leading universities. We are funded by our partners and by the Australian Government through its Cooperative Research Centre Program.


The Role

Would you like to take a lead role in creating a digital future for the agrifood sector? We are seeking candidates for the position of a full-time Project Officer based at our Sydney Canberra, or regionally based in Armidale.

The Project Officer undertakes a range of project reporting, project review implementation and administrative activities to support the development and delivery of projects, in line with established project plans and objectives for Food Agility CRC.

You will work closely with our Project Managers, COO, and Chief Scientist to help coordinate management and review of Food Agility research projects within these initiatives. You will work closely with industry partners and researchers across the consortium to provide expertise in project management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide diverse administrative and related project support, tasks including maintenance of registers and project databases (through Monday.com)
  • Coordinate and participate in quarterly project reviews (showcases) and provide support to project teams through compilation and distribution of showcase agenda papers, provision of feedback reports, minute/note taking and follow up of issues raised.
  • Background research and analysis, including analysis of library and internet materials and survey data.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of processes within the Food Agility project team.
  • Facilitate and participate in partner engagement activities where required, including co-design project workshops, project meetings and regular project team check-ins with CRC partners.
  • Support the FACRC development of proposals to help researchers structure sound research projects.
  • Understanding the different industry drivers and needs and using this knowledge to inform research and development actions and decision making to gain best results i.e., help build better project proposals and adoption pathways. 
  • Help manage projects to fulfil reporting and project management requirements (to Research Leaders; Portfolio Manager; CEO; Board; Commonwealth; State investors; etc). 


Key Selection Criteria

  • Relevant qualification and or industry experience as relates to business development, project/portfolio management, R&D, innovation/translation and/or administration.
  • 2 years’ experience in project support administrative roles.
  • Experience in providing a broad range of administrative and project services to senior level management.
  • Sound organisational skills, the capacity to undertake and complete several tasks concurrently, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a capacity to build and maintain effective and productive relationship with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, showing initiative with limited guidance.
  • Experience in the agriculture and/or technology sector will be highly regarded.

$96,000-$100,000 (including superannuation)
Employment Type: Full-time position, 2 year fixed term
