Food Agility CRC invests in world-leading research that will change the way we produce, supply and consume food. Together with our partners, we create new data-driven technology for the agrifood industry, using AI, robotics, blockchain, sensor, advanced data analytics and more.  

Our mission is to make Australia’s agrifood system more profitable, sustainable and globally competitive. Our partnership network spans the Australian agrifood and agtech industries and includes eight leading universities. We are funded by our partners and by the Australian Government through its Cooperative Research Centre Program.  

The Role 

Would you like to take a lead role in creating a digital future for the agrifood sector? We are seeking candidates for the position of a full-time Senior Project Manager based at our Sydney or Melbourne office.


You will be responsible for managing two major initiatives within the Food Agility project portfolio, the $6.5m Rangelands Carbon project and projects emerging from the Global Digital Farm initiative.  You will plan and oversee projects within these two initiatives, coordinating partners and delivery agents to create exciting new digital tools which enhance the sustainability, productivity and profitability of Australia’s food supply chain.

 
You will work closely with our General Manager, Strategic Investments and Chief Scientist to help coordinate management and review of Food Agility research projects within these initiatives. You will work closely with industry partners and researchers across the consortium to provide expertise in project management.

 
This is a full-time position (2-year contract), preferably based in Sydney NSW, or Melbourne VIC. We are a nationally dispersed team that mostly works from home. We have an office in Sydney CBD and Melbourne CBD.


Key Accountabilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Rangelands Carbon project and the individual projects within the Global Digital Farm initiative.  
  • Undertake project compliance activities including tracking project resources and budget to ensure the projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet the desirable outcomes.  
  • Manage engagement, communication and reporting to project partners. 
  • Support collaborative research teams to frequently engage with end-users/customers to validate their ideas 
  • Manage the quarterly showcase process including scheduling, hosting and feedback, and managing of quarterly reporting documentation and milestone payments.  
  • Manage project wrap-up process using the Food Agility project wrap-up framework ensuring effective reporting on project outcomes  
  • Report to Food Agility CRC senior leadership team as required on the progress of Food Agility research projects including identifying key successes or barriers to success. 
  • Manage project internal Food Agility project progress reporting and support Food Agility executive in reporting to the Food Agility Board and the Commonwealth Department of Industry.


Selection Criteria  

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in Project Management.
  • 3-5 years Project Management experience 
  • Demonstrated experience of partner management including extensive experience in building effective networks.  
  • Demonstrated high level expertise in the areas of change management, quality management and project management and in particular the management of high profile projects.  
  • Evidence of leadership and motivational skills including the capacity to initiate lead and manage change in a challenging and dynamic environment. 
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in the management and delivery of services within a complex organisation or consortia. 
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Proficient with project management software (e.g., Monday.com, JIRA, Asana)  
  • Knowledge of issues and policies affecting research and the innovation sector. 
  • Experience in agriculture, carbon, agricultural technology or scientific communication would be an advantage.
